When Cassie Coburn moved to London, she never thought she'd be involved in a quadruple homicide.

After a car accident ended her medical career before it even started, Cassie moved to London on a whim, expecting to see the sights and live the typical tourist backpacker lifestyle.

Instead she finds herself accompanying a French private detective, Violet Despuis, as they attempt to find out who poisoned four people in the middle of London.

Cassie's life soon includes this crazy detective, an ancient landlady with a curious past, a mischeivous orange cat who likes going for walks on a leash, and a super hot pathologist that Cassie is sure is out of her league.

And they haven't even found the murderer yet...

The Cassie Coburn mysteries are a cozy mystery series featuring a Sherlock-holmes style sleuth. If you want a light, fun, modern mystery featuring a San Francisco girl totally out of her element in London, and a crazy French woman who happens to be very good at noticing things, then this is the series for you.

With a career that ended before it began, aspiring surgeon, Cassie Coburn has decided to take the 10 million dollar settlement from the accident that ended her promising career and her dreams and head for England.

Despite her windfall wealth, ever frugal Cassie buys a used bicycle to get around town only to find it stolen a few days later. While reporting the theft at the local police station she meets Violet Despuis, a Frenchwoman who acts as a police consultant on difficult cases (think the European female version of Patrick Jane on The Mentalist). This serendipitous meeting appears to be the beginning of a fun series featuring this crime solving dynamic duo.

Book #1 in the series, Poison in Paddington presents the twosome with the murder of four unrelated victims, all felled by a helping of strychnine laced stew purchased from a street stall. How are the victims connected….or are they? Do we have a serial killer on the loose or is there something else in play?.

No cozy lover can fail to be intrigued and amused by author Samantha Summer’s unlikely pair of investigators.

Poison in Paddington A Cozy Mystery Cassie Coburn Mysteries Book 1 edition by Samantha Silver Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Cassie was injured prior to finishing her residency to become a surgeon. The accident was severe and career-ending. After months of physical therapy and battling depression, she moves from San Francisco to London. She meets and teams up with a French woman, Violet, a private detective, who takes cases she feels are interesting, and helps bring criminals to justice.
I enjoyed the story and meeting the main and supporting characters. I will definitely enjoy reading more from these ladies!
Cassie Coburn was to become an Orthopedic Surgeon, but was hit by a car leaving the hospital parking lot.  Due to her injuries she can't be an Orthopedic Surgeon.

She received ten million dollars from his insurance company, considering the amount lost income she would earned as surgeon.

Cassie became very depressed.  She knew needed to make a life changing decision.  She has a UK passport, since her birth, her father is Scottish.
Cassie decides to go live in London. She's being very frugal with her money.  And went to stay in a hostel with a roommate.  She bought a cheap bicycle for exercise and to visit places in London.  Someone stole her bicycle by cutting off the lock that was attacked to a chain.
Cassie went to the police to report the theft.  But went to the wrong floor.  She stopped a man carrying folder and a woman.  He told he would take her information and to follow him into a large room, with big table and other people.  When she looked at the white board on the wall she saw th chemical formula for strychnine, a  poison and said  it out loud.  Everyone was looking at her.

That's when she met DCI Williams and Violet Despuis who was working with police to help find justice.  Four people died after eating soup from a vendor on the street.

There is so much more to this story you need to read this book!

I enjoyed reading this book.
Although there are a few 'suspend your common sense' situations in the story, I enjoyed the book. A young woman, no longer able to be a surgeon has moved to London and become friends of sorts with an interesting woman who helps the police solve crimes. The relationship between the two characters is entertaining and the plot line moves along at a good pace. I enjoy the London setting and the writing is competent. Look forward to the next book.
Quite an international range of characters . A London setting and murder, British detective, American doctor, French investigative consultant and an Irish bank account. Yet the story is simple, exceptionally easy to read if a little short on development and detail.
Completely free of violent detail and sex, it requires little indepth thought from the reader. Suitable as a quick time filler by anyone from a young teenager to a conservative granny.
Cassie had a very good reason to be England; the surgical career she'd envisioned was not to be due to a vehicular accident which damaged her hand and leg. She travelled to try rid herself of depression. Violet is a female Sherlock Holmes who decides to involve Cassie in a multiple homicide (a food truck poisoning s) which she believes is a clever cover to hide that the target was one specific person. She disagrees with the police theory of a deranged serial killer on the loose. Cassie and Violet become friends and conspirators to trap a wiley murderer and determined blackmailer.
A cozy read for women of a certain age.
This is a well-written book with a well-paced plot that incorporated several well-placed red-herrings to keep you guessing. Although this was a shorter storyline, I wish it was a little longer, the story is well told, all the important details are included in the story. The characters are well developed and have an interesting partnership. Just the right amount of humor keeps the story light and enjoyable.

I listened to the audio version of this book. Narrator Patricia Santomasso has a pleasant voice. She has great diction and comedic timing. Her accents complement the characters bringing the story to life. Her contribution of storytelling ability really added to an enjoyable reading experience.

I was given a copy of this book in hopes that I would give an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
This is exactly what it says it is, a cozy mystery. Either this is an homage to sherlock or the author is massively influenced by sherlock. Either way it isn't much of a bad thing, the similarities were noticeable but didn't make me think rip off. The writing was simple and easy to follow, some of the deductions seemed.... I don't know cliche or predictable? Maybe. Still this is a perfectly acceptable book that I don't regret reading but I doubt I'll continue the series.
